Burkina Invites Ghana Armed Forces

The Burkinabe government recently invited the Ghana Armed Forces to join her in marking the 41st anniversary of her armed forces. The contingent, which was released in response to the invitation, included the Armed Forces Central Band and a volleyball team both of which thrilled spectators in Ouagadougou.

The Central Band entertained spectators at the anniversary parade, which took place on November 1st with their brand of military drills and displays. The band according to Captain E.A. Quashie of the DPR, also participated in a candlelight procession through some streets of Ouagadougou, opening ceremony of an athletics competition and a dinner dance.

In a special five-nation volleyball competition as part of the celebrations, the GAF volleyball team lost to the host nation in the final match by two sets. The GAF team had earlier defeated all the competing teams by two straight sets each in round-robin matches after which the first two teams of the round robin met for the final match. The other countries which took part in the competition included Benin, Mali and Togo.
