Buru-Navio community organises durbar to acknowledge development

Buru-Navio (UER), Sept.27, GNA - The chiefs and people of Buru-Navio electoral area, in the Kassena-Nankana District of the Upper East Region, have held a durbar to express their gratitude to the Government for carrying out three development projects in the locality. The projects are a clinic, a junior secondary school block and a rehabilitated dam to boost irrigated farming during the dry season. The District Chief Executive, Mr George Kolira Danyare said the residents had a course to rejoice because they had not seen such projects since Ghana gained independence from British colonial rule in 1957.

He announced that a six-classroom primary school block was being constructed for rural communities in the electoral area.

Mr Danyare urged the people to return the Kufuor administration to power in Election 2004 to ensure sustainable development.

The Chief of Kazugu, Pe Dongo Aluah who chaired the function, appealed to the Government to establish small-scale agro-based industries in the area to create jobs for the people.

Pe Aluah also urged the District Chief Executive to ensure that the electrification programme being undertaking in the District was extended to Buru-Navio, to facilitate the establishment of small-scale industries.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Chiana-Paga, Mr Leo Kaba, was introduced to the people at the durbar. He urged the electorate to for the NPP in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
