Business community asked to spread VAT education.

Salaga (Northern Region) 15 Oct. '98 Mr Abdulai Tanko, East Gonja District Youth Co-ordinator has appealed to the business community to take active interest in the Value Added Tax (VAT) education programme by explaining to their clients the rationale for introducing the new tax system.

The sustained education of people in the informal sector on the tax, especially the mode of collection, social services and items exempted from VAT is necessary to help the people to understand and thereby facilitate collection of the VAT.

Mr Tanko was addressing a seminar on VAT at Salaga on Tuesday. It was organised by the National Youth Council (NYC) for businessmen, youth groups and non-governmental organisations. GRi
