Winneba (C/R), Sept. 9, GNA - The Winneba Magistrate's court has remanded a 37-year business man from Kwau Pepepong in the Eastern Region in prison custody for defrauding one John Tunkongmen Saana-Guri in the sum of Nine hundred Ghana Cedis. The plea of Nana Kwame Boateng was not taken and the court presided over by Mr Ali Baba Abature ordered him to re-appear before the court on September 19, 2008. Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Paul Adamah told the court that on 7th July 2008, one Stephen Braimah introduced Boateng, the accused to his brother, Saana-Guri, the complainant in Winneba, for the purpose of transacting a car business. Saana -Guri had then decided to buy an Ovan Bus. He said the accused assured the complainant of helping him purchase a home second hand Ovan Bus at the cost of 900 Ghana Cedi. The prosecution said Saana-Guri together with Braimah and the accused person went to the National Investment Bank in Accra, cashed the said amount and gave it to him (the accused) for payment of the vehicle. Chief Inspector Adamah said, the accused person after receiving the amount took them to a garage and showed them the Ovan bus, but asked them to give him some time to prepare documents covering it. He said Boateng was not seen again until recently when he was arrested by the Accra Police in a similar case. According to Chief Inspector Adamah, the complainant heard of the accused person and informed the Winneba Police who went, arrested him and charged him with the offence.
