Two leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman Municipality, who were nearly lynched by some thugs have appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intervene for the speedy prosecution of the suspects.

Barely two weeks ago, thugs brutally attacked Mr Kwadwo Agyei, a businessman and a former constituency executive of the NDC in Techiman North constituency, Mrs Sueba Sulemana, a trader, and her 15-year-old daughter, Musihu Awal at Techiman Zongo.

In the process the attackers allegedly stole GH?55,000.00, five mobile phones, and an ipad from Mr Adjei, a dealer in spare parts and motor bikes.

According to bystanders, the timely intervention of the police saved the victims, two of them (Sulemana and Awal), who were in critical conditions and had since received treatment and discharged from the Holy family Hospital in Techiman.

The attackers also caused extensive damage to the Mitsubishi Pajero vehicle with registration number TG 0184 AC, belonging to Mr Adjei during the attack, which occurred around 2100 hours on Sunday August 30.

Mr Adjei told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Techiman that the incident happened when he was accompanying the other victims to their house after he had closed from work.

He said one Awudu Alima confronted them, and before they realized some young-men pounced on them and beat them mercilessly at the full glare of some people in the neighborhood.

Mr Adjei said his Pajero vehicle, which he parked at the premises of the Techiman Divisional Police Command, was burnt beyond recognition at the police premises on Thursday September 3, after Alima threatened to set it ablaze.

When contacted, Superintendent Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, the Techiman Divisional Police Commander confirmed the story to the GNA and said the case was reported to the District Police command.

He said the police had arrested some suspects, but he could not immediately provide the details of them, because according to him, investigations were being conducted by the district police command.
