Cape Coast, Oct 6, GNA - The Cape Coast Municipal HIV/AIDS coordinator, Mrs Juliana Armah, on Thursday appealed to workers at the Central Regional Coordinating to go for voluntary counselling and testing to help minimize the spread of the virus in the municipality. Mrs Armah, who made the call at a day's workshop on HIV/AIDS for workers of the RCC at Cape Coast, said a sexually transmitted disease like syphilis was dangerous and could cause blindness, mental retardation and spontaneous abortion of the foetus.

Mr Ishmael Ogyefo, regional focal person on HIV/AIDS, spoke about hepatitis'B' and said although it could be treated, its treatment was expensive and advised the workers to take precautions to avoid contracting it.

During an open forum, the workers deplored the behaviour of some health workers who, they claimed, insulted clients and suggested that monthly durbars should be held to help reverse the situation.
