CAC organises Easter Convention

Accra, April 22, GNA - Apostle Dr Stephen Kwame Amoani, Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International has challenged Christians to use the Easter celebration to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and also pray for people around the globe.

Apostle Dr Amoani was addressing the Zone 93A" Area Easter Convention of the Christ Apostolic Church International at the Odorkor Central Assembly in Accra on Easter Friday on th e theme: 93Crucifying the Flesh to Bear the Fruits of the Kingdom."

The area is covered by assemblies including Odorkor Central, North Kaneshie Central, Abeka and the Weija Barrier. The five-day Convention which is on the general theme: 93Bearing the Fruits of the Kingdom," is being organised nationwide at the Area and Zonal levels of the Church.

Apostle Amoani said most people did not recognise the significance of the Easter celebration and hence resorted to merry making. Apostle Amoani said this years Easter celebration had come at a time when Ghana as well her neighbouring countries needed peace and stability.

He asked the Christian Community in Ghana to pray fervently for peace to prevail in the Northern part of Ghana where chieftaincy issues were becoming a problem.

"We should also pray for the People in Cote d' Ivoire, Nigeria and the Burkina Faso where leadership crises are tearing the nations apart. "Ghana would only be at peace when our neighbours have peace and so we as Christians in the neighbourhood should not shirk our responsibilities and share a word of prayer for them to live peacefully in the wake of all the turmoil and instability as a result of political, social, financial and economic problems."

Apostle Amoani said the Easter celebration was also the 93a time to remember where God picked us from and the time to reflect on the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ which procured redemption for mankind."

"Without the crucifixion of Jesus Christ the foundation of our Christianity would have been baseless," he added. Apostle Amoani therefore entreated members of the Christian community to crucify the flesh to enable them bear the fruits of the Kingdom which included love, selflessness, humility, caring and unity among other attributes.

He mentioned covetousness, politics of insults, back-biting, blackmailing ethnocentrism as some of the vices fighting against the growth and development of the nation and urged Ghanaians especially Christians to create an environment that would nurture the love for one another and the selflessness needed for the uplifting the nation. Apostle Amoani stressed the need for Ghanaians to do away with pride, hatred and apathy because Ghana needed the efforts of all in the quest to raise the standard of living for the people.

Reverend Emmanuel Owiredu, Minister in Charge of the Odorkor Central Assembly of the Church, led the congregation to pray for the nation, the church and the Christian Community in general. 22 April 11
