The Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) has launched its Agency Banking Service and set a target of onboarding 8,000 agents by 2028.
The Managing Director of CBG, Naomi Wolali Kwetey, said the initiative forms part of the bank’s broader commitment to delivering accessible, secure, and inclusive banking solutions to Ghanaians.
The service is expected to allow customers to access essential banking services within their communities through approved agents, reducing the need to visit traditional bank branches.
Speaking at the launch on Thursday, May 21, 2026, she commended the Bank of Ghana for its continued support for financial sector development and innovation.
“We are particularly honoured by the presence and continuous support of the Bank of Ghana, whose commitment to financial sector development and financial inclusion continues to create opportunities for innovation and growth within the banking industry,” she said.

According to her, the agency banking platform will provide a range of services, including cash deposits, withdrawals, interbank transfers, bill payments, and account opening through accredited agents operating within local communities.
“Our agency banking service allows customers to access key banking services in their communities through approved agents, including cash deposits, withdrawals, interbank transfers, bill payments and account openings,” she noted.
She further disclosed that the bank has already onboarded 168 agents nationwide, with plans to expand significantly in the coming years.
“I am pleased to announce that CBG has already onboarded 168 agents and counting. We hope to onboard about 1,000 by the end of the year and, in three years, by 2028, we’ll be onboarding 8,000 agents,” she revealed.
She expressed confidence that the initiative would support businesses and communities while contributing to Ghana’s broader financial inclusion agenda and economic growth.
“This is not just a launch; it’s a step towards empowering communities and supporting local business,” she added.
The bank also acknowledged the role of its partners, including Morphin and its network of agents, for supporting the successful rollout of the service across the country.
