The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) has donated a cheque and items valued at Ghc10,000 to the Dzorwulu Special School in Accra as part of the organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The items donated to the school on Friday, January 12, included bags of rice, cartons of tomato paste, cartons of drinks, milk, toiletries, gallons of cooking oil, sugar, stationaries, a lawnmower and a printer.

The Chief Executive Officer of CBOD, Senyo Hosi together with Staff of the organization who presented the items to the school said the gesture was to help meet some basic needs of the students to reduce the burden on the government and teachers who attended to them.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are donating the items totaling GHc10,000 to the Dzorwulu Special School as our token contribution to the day to day running of the school,” Mr. Hosi noted.

He expressed hope that the items would meet the short and long-term needs of the school.

Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs for CBOD, Mrs Daisy Edem Attu who spoke to GhanaWeb also indicated that it was the organisation’s first offering to the school but they hope to do more for the institution as far as its financial capabilities gets stronger.

“This is our first time of donating to the Dzorwulu special school and we hope to continue in the future to make it a regular thing as our finances help us to. We decided to donate to them because we are in the same area with them and also because we realized that they need help in taking care of the children that they are taking care of".

“They are doing a good job and we thought that we will help them to continue the good work that they are doing,” Ms. Attu added.

The Headmistress, Mrs. Veronica Sackey who received the items on behalf of the School lauded CBOD for the kind gesture that has come their way just at a time of entering a New Year when the school has resumed from the Christmas break.

“It is a joy to see Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors Staff coming to us and donating such a time that school has just reopened and then we will have kids to feed and to cater for.

We are so much appreciative to BDC’s for showing such love to such children and recognizing them in the society," Mrs. Sackey express.

The Dzorwulu Special School is a state funded boarding institution with both teaching and non-teaching staff. The students are usually taken through academic, cognitive and vocational skill training in order to help them properly.
