CCG to leaders: 'Create a better world'

The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has urged governments and people in leadership positions to strive to build and pass on a world that is just, sustainable, peaceful, secure, prosperous, and provides opportunities for all, to the next generation.

The Council said the world today was confronted with spiritual deficiency, degraded environment, corruption, declining economy, insecurity, political instability, immorality, bad leadership examples, chaos, and other forms of social vices, which should not be passed on to the next generation.

“The Council is of the strongest view that the state of our future generation will be determined by what we do today as a church, family, government, political party, traditional authority, institution, etc.,” it said in a message to commemorate Easter.

“This, therefore, places a huge responsibility on those in leadership positions in our country to be very mindful, like Jesus, and seek to build and pass on a world that provides a solid foundation for the next generation.”

The Council, thus, admonished churches, families, government, political parties, institutions, and traditional authorities to reflect on the kind of world they are creating today and make the necessary sacrifices that will benefit the current and future generations.

EASTER MESSAGE: LET’S REFLECT ON THE WORLD WE ARE PASSING ON TO OTHERS

“Near the cross of Jesus stood His mother, His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw His mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.” John 19:25-24

The story of Easter is a vivid description of what Jesus Christ did for mankind and the world after His death on the cross of Calvary. Our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, whiles on earth lived a life that only did not benefit His generation and the people around Him, but the many generations after His death and resurrection.

Jesus’ life was focused on ensuring that, generations that will come after Him thrive, and become the righteousness of His father. This explains why He had to make the most expensive sacrifice by dying on the cross so that we can be saved.

As we reflect on the death and resurrection of Jesus this Easter, we must be mindful of the kind of world we are passing on to the generations that will come after us.

Currently, we are confronted with a world with spiritual deficiency, degraded environment, corruption, declining economy, insecurity, political instability, immorality, bad leadership examples, chaos and other forms of social vices.

This should not be the kind of world we should pass on to future generations. We should strive to build, and pass on a world that is just, sustainable, peaceful, secured, prosperous, and provides opportunities for all.
