Accra, Oct 09, GNA- The Central Executive Committee of Polytechnic Local Union of the Teachers and Educational Workers' Union (TEWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has given seven days within which the Conference of Polytechnic Principals (COPP) should convene a meeting to thrash out issues on salaries and conditions of service.

In a resolution, the union (CECPLU) said COPP has failed in convening a meeting "to consider our proposals for salaries and conditions of service as agreed upon per the memorandum of understanding signed between COPP and TEWU on Friday, September 10, 2004.''

The Resolution signed by Mr Dan Ayim Antwi, General Secretary of TEWU and others said "COPP should within a period of seven days from Friday, October 08 2004, convene a meeting for the negotiation of our proposals for the review of our Collective Bargaining Agreement and Salaries".

It further said, "we reaffirm the 15 percent salary increase agreed upon by COPP and TEWU on Friday, September 10, 2004." "We will however, not accept an effective date later than Monday, March One, 2004". The CECPLU warned that if by the close of work "on Thursday, October 14, 2004, the aforementioned demands are not met we shall advise ourselves."
