Mr Kofi Opoku Ntiamoah (pictured) has been dismissed from his post as the Commissioner of Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS) and replaced with Brigadier Richardson Baiden of the Ghana Armed Forces. The new boss, who takes over with immediate effect, is expected to streamline the operations of the service and boost the confidence of personnel.
Mr Ntiamoah was recalled from retirement and appointment Commissioner last year, after the government removed the highly rated NDC appointee Nii Okine Adjei. His recall from retirement was criticized by some personnel of the service.
Mr Opoku Ntiamoah?s removal comes at a time when there are reports that he assisted a tax defaulting importer to clear a quantity of goods from CEPS warehouse.
