The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is after a communication member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Robert Owusu for threatening blood shed this election year.

The former NDC youth organiser for Fomena constituency in the Ashanti region went berserk on Kumasi-based Boss FM when he alleged that members of the party have “sharpened their cutlasses” and are battle ready for any confrontation from the opposition.

“If this is how the 2016 election will go then only 10 people will vote… We have sharpened our cutlasses and will butcher people anyhow… the regional police commander [Kofi Boakyi] supports what I’m saying,” Owusu told the host Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Tuesday.

“We’ll butcher them,” the former constituency youth organiser, who contested in the Fomena primaries, but lost said.

Meanwhile, the regional command has written to the management of Boss FM for a copy of the tape to study it before it will take action.

“On the request by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID/headquarters), the Ashanti Regional Police Command is requesting your network to kindly furnish us with the audio recordings of yesterday, 05/01/16 morning show.

“This is to afford the National CID Headquarters the privilege to listen to the full tape of the discussion in respect of the Voter’s Register by the various political parties. Your cooperation in this regard is highly anticipated,” the statement signed by C/Supt Peter A. Baba said.

It will be recalled that the Supreme Court jailed an NDC communicator Stephen Atubiga for three days for making similar comments during the 2012 election petition hearings.
