CITSPAG Members Identify Problems in ICT Business

Hohoe, May 10, GNA - The Hohoe District branch of the Computer and Information Technology Service Providers Association of Ghana (CITSPAG) has identified frequent power outages, high telephone bills and irrational tax regimes as problems militating against their activities. Mr Henry Ametefe, Chairman of CITSPAG, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview shortly after the association's maiden meeting on Tuesday that frequent power outages and unreliable power supply were causing regular breakdown of their computer systems.

He said high telephone bills charged by Ghana Telecom (GT) especially on Internet service providers was a disincentive to operators, throwing many operators out of business.

Mr Ametefe said the objective of forming the Association was to foster unity among members and to press for favourable working conditions and policies affecting their trade internally and globally. Membership of the association comprised Internet service providers, computer and accessories dealers and operators of business and communication centres.
