Accra, April 26, GNA - The Chief Justice, Mrs Justice Georgina Wood has directed that necessary procedural steps should be taken to clear the back-log of family tribunal cases that have been pending before Magistrate Courts in Accra.

In statement signed by Mr Abdullah Iddrisu, Acting Judicial Secretary, the Chief Justice said with effect from May 5, those who had family tribunal cases pending at the court should ascertain from the notice boards of all District Magistrate Courts in Accra, particularly the Juvenile and Family Tribunal Courts at the Ministries, the dates on which their cases would be heard.

Some of the cases have been pending for periods ranging between one and five years without being attended to. "The General public, especially those who had filed Family Tribunal Cases before any District Magistrate Court in Accra, are requested to comply with this directive," the statement said.
