Ghana and Juve Stabia defender, Bright Addae, says Black Stars coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor can win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title if he gets all the support he needs from the players.
Ghana hasn’t won the AFCON title since 1982 in Libya.
The Black Stars came close to winning the title in Angola 2010 and 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.
C.K Akonnor who replaced Kwesi Appiah as Black Stars coach has also been tasked to build a winning team capable of ending the trophy drought.
According to Bright Addae, players invited into the national team can help the cause if they are committed and play for the badge.
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy 98.9FM, he said, “CK Akonnor is a good coach and he can win the AFCON trophy if the players are very committed and ready to play for the badge. If they do that they can win the AFCON”.
The U-20 World Cup winner also availed himself for the Black Stars;
“I will always be ready to come and play for the Black Stars when called upon”.
“I will urge Ghanaians to obey the protocols and adhere to directives given out by health officials and the government”, he added.
Bright Addae was part of the 2009 Ghana u-20 team the Black Satellites that won the FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.
