THE CIVIL and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has threatened to declare what it called a ‘fatal’ industrial action beginning Monday, if the government fails to address their grievances by Friday.

A statement issued on Tuesday and signed on behalf of the association by the Brong Ahafo Regional Secretary, Dramani Yakubu Clifford, said “We in the Brong Ahafo can no longer guarantee the patience and calm of our members.”

The statement, which was addressed to the Minister of Employment and Social Welfare and copied to the Finance Minister among other institutions, noted that the government, on September 6, 2012, made them believe that an inter-ministerial committee had been tasked to develop scenarios to inform the decision on the modalities for the payment of premium to its members.

However, CLOGSAG said, since September, when the assurance was given, nothing concrete has been heard from the said committee.

“We, on this note, wish to state that by the close of work on Friday the 26th October, 2012, if nothing is heard from our employer, we will have no option but to embark on a fatal industrial action on Monday, 29th October, 2012,” the statement warned.
