Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOSSAG) will on Monday October 14th embark on a nationwide strike in protest of unpaid allowances.

This is in accordance with a directive issued by National Executives Committee asking its members to lay down their tools.

The leadership of CLOSSAG has been battling with the National Labour Commission (NLC) for the payment of the allowances over the years.

Speaking to CitiNews, CLOSSAG’s Director of Welfare and Projects, Benjamin Agyari, said their members will be compelled to stay at home if their concerns are not addressed.

According to him, the intended action will be legal because they are not doing anything outside the provisions of the Labour Act.

“The strike is going to be a knockout; our members are expected to be in their homes but we are going according to the rules in the Labour Act”.

Benjamin Agyari stated emphatically that they will not rescind their decision until their allowances are paid.
