All seems not be well with the concerned youth of Amenfi East wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the youth of the party are up in arms with the chief executive officer of the Ghana cocoa board(COCOBOD), Joseph Boahen Aidoo over an incident that bothers in corruption in 2001.

The concerned youth of the NPP want the special prosecutor’s office as set up by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to look into how Mr. Aidoo , who was the Western regional minister with oversight responsibility over the Amenfi East allegedly withdrew some GHC 160,000(1.6 Billion Ghana Cedis) from the assembly’s account for the purpose of renovating a building for the use of promoters of the creation of the assembly.

In the 2001, Honorable Joseph Boahen Aidoo as MP for Amenfi Eat, Western Regional Minister and also acting DCE for Amenfi East, fraudulently withdrew from the newly-created district account an amount of 1.6 billion cedis ( now GHc 160,000.00) for the purposes of renovating and refurbishing a private property belonging to his brother-in-law for the official use of the promoters for the creation of the district ,led by the late Paramount Chief.

Meanwhile, a citizen, Mr.Ampong had donated his property for use but this was rejected by Hon.Boahen Aidoo. It turned out that no renovation was done on the social property but the money was not accounted for and the newly appointed DCE was denied access to the property by Hon. Boahen Aidoo’s in-law who insisted the Assembly had not spent any money on his property.

Concerned members of the NPP petitioned the then Serious Fraud Office (SFO) but investigations were halted mid-way, a situation that has until today continued to cause a lot of disaffection for the NPP as a party in Amanfi East.

To make matters worse, the COCOBOD CEO in recent times has been attempting to undermine the constituency executives with the wealth he has acquired as CEO of COCOBOD and agenda is creating a lot of acrimony and rancour.

Having previously petitioned your office on the activities of Hon. Boahen Aidoo, which does not augur well for the party, we wish at this point to serve notice that we will petition the special prosecutor to re-open an investigation into the case against Hon. Boahen Aidoo.
