COGA Donates Radio Equipment To Ghana Police

The Council of Ghanaian Associations (COGA) recently traveled to Ghana headed by its Chairperson; Ms. Mary Damuah. The objective of the members was to make a formal presentation of a high powered communication equipment to the Ghana Police Force to combat crime.

The items comprised of 15 dynamic Motorola Walkie-Talkie, TP 340 VHE Unit with frequency between 136 MH2 and channel spacing of 12.5 Kh2, 240 volt and rechargeable batteries. The delegation made a grand presentation to the Assistant Police Commissioner, who deputized for the Inspector General of Police; also present were; Senior Officers of the force, government representatives, members of the press; TV, radio and print media. This event was featured on TV3 and reported in the Daily Graphic.

The Chairman of the Council, Ms. Mary Damuah released a statement, which talked about the aspiration and the aim of the council to continue to support the Ghana Police Force and Ghana as a whole in its efforts to curb crime. The Assistant Police Inspector General thanked the Chairman of the Council and the entire delegation for a wonderful patronage displayed by Ghanaians in the Washington Metro Area and for contributing to the on going development of the country, most importantly in the area of the nation's security.

The Council also presented a check of $1,000.00 to the Volta Disaster Commission and another $1,000.00 to the Ghana World Cup Fund. Representatives of both organizations received donations respectively.

There were fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas between the delegation and the Senior Staff of the Police Force. The discussions circled around many issues facing the country and how Ghanaians in the Diaspora could assist in solving some of the problems. A two-hour lovely reception was organized by the Police Force in honor of the delegation.

A special citation was extended to the management of North American Airlines who made it possible for the delegation to fly to Ghana during their maiden flight from Baltimore to Accra.
