Dr Vladimir Antwi-Danso, a senior lecturer and the Dean of Students at the University of Ghana (UG) says until there is a total collapse and demise of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP) will never rise as a formidable political party.
Dr Antwi-Danso, who is also a staunch member of the CPP said despite the demur of not being able to contest the six by elections the opposition National Democratic Congress has stolen the seats of the CPP, arrogated some of the competent members and sympathizers of the CPP, and until there is the NDC’s total demise, the CPP would still remain the disorganized state it is in now.
Dr. Antwi Danso said this in an interview with the ''Free Press'' in Accra.
''The NDC has some thing that belongs to the CPP and if the party dies all the CPP sympathizers in the NDC, would comeback to the CPP and their actions will propel the CPP as a vibrant political party for 2008 elections'' he noted.
He declared that, come 2008 elections, the country would be in the crisis period, while the ruling NPP would also be faced with successive crisis because the NPP would be choosing its flag bearer by then. He was of the view that the people of Ghana would be fed up with the policies of the NPP and will be looking out for an alternative political party to the NPP in 2008 elections, he said.
Buttressing his claim with a philosophy he said, ''in politics you don’t get what is ideal but you get what is feasible'', he consequently blamed the leaders of the CPP for the confusion that has erupted among the rank and the file of the party.
