Red Cockerel Rising New Year Message to the People of Ghana, 2008
WOODBRIDGE, Va. (December 28, 2007) CPP Coalition, USA of Baltimore-Washington Metropolis wishes all the people of Ghana happy and prosperous New Year, 2008. We need to remind ourselves that happiness and prosperity for the people of Ghana will materialize if, and only if, we make a matured and reasoned decision about the type and caliber of Administration will elect to place our country on the path towards progressive development. In this regard, Ghanaians would be making prudent and wise choice if in the 2008 general elections they vote for the candidate of the Convention People’s Party, CPP, for President, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and put majority of the Party’s parliamentary contestants in the Parliament.
Ghanaians can rest assured that a CPP administration will fashion and implement sensible workable and effective public policies to bridge economic and social divide between rural and urban areas of our country. This means a CPP administration will ensure Ghana where peasant farmers will not feel alienated from urban-dwelling proletarians who live with neon signs and regulated by traffic lights. The Coalition guarantees that the First CPP Administration of the 21st Century will create conditions in Ghana’s rural areas to the extent it will no longer be attractive for young people to consider internal or international migration and the attendant hazards.
Recent news-making events indicate that 2008 is pregnant with possibilities for the CPP to make a return splash on the political landscape of Ghana where the phenomenon of democracy will include equal access to economic opportunities for all. With a CPP administration, the practice and dispensation of governance will be “good” and efficient, as well as just.
Through efficient governance by a CPP administration, the constitutional provision for Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education, FCUBE, will be given its true meaning. In the light of one of the best traditions of Nkrumahism, a 21st Century CPP administration will, as a matter of utmost priority, provide full access to basic education at all levels to school-age children, regardless of family income or social background.
Ghanaians can be assured that with a CPP administration, no Ghanaian child will attend classes in abandoned chicken coops, dilapidated structures and facilities or under trees. This is to say that with a CPP administration, street hawking by school-age kids in Ghana’s urban centers will be a thing of the past. Yes, the “kayayei” phenomenon will no longer be a social blight of Ghana.
Consistent with another best tradition of Nkrumahism, a CPP administration will move mountains to provide adequate healthcare service to the citizens, knowing that healthy bodies and minds produce productive workers and general population. This means a CPP administration will address how to make the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS, work the way it is supposed to.
Given the persistence of crisis of energy supply in Ghana, a CPP administration will hit on all cylinders to harness all available sources of renewable energy production including bio-fuels, solar and wind. A CPP administration will ensure the sanctity of banks along rivers and streams on which dams are located by protecting them from human encroachment as a means of maintaining and preserving river basins; and from depletion of water volume of the Volta River that interferes with operation of the Akosombo hydro-electric power production will be history.
Threat to the safety of individuals in society is an assault on national security, freedom and justice, and as such a CPP administration in Ghana will not tolerate the recent spate of criminal activities such as armed robbery and mob justice in our country. This means also that law and order will be maintained adequately through effective enforcement. The rule of law materializes only in the atmosphere of effective law enforcement.
Experience has shown, thus far, that a number of inimical provisions in the 1992 Constitution of Ghana inhibit progressive development and economic growth of our country. Therefore, a CPP administration will have no choice but to provide all the resources for reviewing the 1992 Constitution with a view to making it profitable for the people of Ghana. Parliament will be strengthened to make it play its effective role in a governance system that ensures proper “checks and balances.”
With a CPP administration in place, the president of Ghana will not make begging for foreign assistance, aid, loans or grants a matter of routine for economic adjustment in our country. Rather, when our president travels abroad it will be for the purpose of helping solve global problems. Ghana with a CPP administration will no longer be a slave to the supra-national Bretton Woods financial institutions and other donor agencies.
Heading into the critical election year 2008, CPP Coalition, USA of Baltimore-Washington Metropolis reminds Ghanaians of the reality that whereas nature makes the rules of life, people make their own history. The choices we make today, as Ghanaians, will determine the direction and trajectory of development and progress of our 50-year old country, marching into the future. The Coalition is confident that the recent success at organizing a delegates’ congress by the Party will not pass away like Santa Claus but as an indicator of the efficiency with which the CPP will conduct the 2008 national elections campaign.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
Forward Ever!…………..Backward Never!
