WOODBRIDGE, Virginia; Monday, December 28, 2009 -- Let there be no doubt in the minds of all active observers of the Ghanaian political scene that organizers, members and supporters of Convention people’s Party (CPP) Coalition – USA, remain resolute in their commitment to abide by the ideals and vision of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, liberator of Gold Coast from colonization and emancipator of Africa from European world imperialism.

With Nkrumahist enthusiasm, we the organizers, members and supporters of CPP COALITION – USA are ready and prepared to rededicate ourselves for the struggle to capture, once again, the commanding heights of the political realm in Ghana and to lead the chiefs and people to the economic Promised Land.

The CPP finished serving as the vanguard for the task of political struggle for independence for the people of the Gold Coast after which it was dismantled by a section of Ghana’s military establishment through the instrumentality of United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on 24th February 1966.

We believe that the social revolution of June 1949 to March 6, 1957 in the Gold Coast remains one of the most significant political events that occurred during the second half of the 20th century. Therefore, the CPP, as the vanguard organization of that revolution, remains one of the most significant political parties that emerged in the second half of the 20th century.

As we all observe the close of 2009, the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, organizers and members of the COALITION remain aware of the daunting task before us between now and December 2012 to prepare ourselves to capture the minds and hearts of the Ghanaian electorate. We take cognizance of the fact that Ghanaians have endured the tyranny of inefficient governments that have failed to meet their economic, political and social aspirations in the past 27 years, especially in the back woods and alleys where most of our people reside.

We have been aware that in spite of glowing rhetoric from people who impose themselves as leaders of our nation, our people have been the recipients of trickle down crumbs from the national economic pie while abject poverty among majority of citizens continues unabated.

We have been aware that promises by political charlatans to stamp out corruption from our society have been replaced with deepening acts of fraud steeped in criminality by the ruling class elite with impunity.

Since 1966, when the CPP government, led by our illustrious founding father, Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown, access to formal education has been in shambles leaving 49% of our people still unable to read or write in any language, at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century. In addition, provision of healthcare delivery remains life threatening in and of itself.

Though the path to political victory for the Nkrumahist CPP may be daunting to tread, we members of the COALITION remain assured that perseverance in organizational fortitude can win the day. Indeed, “Organization decides everything,” as Osagyefo taught us to believe.

We have been made aware that starting in June 1949 with the formation of the Convention People’s Party (thanks to the so-called verandah boys) the path to political emancipation from British colonization, had not been paved with gold or diamonds. Yet, our political forebears transcended all obstacles to deliver the political independence granted our people on March 6, 1957, that we cherish today.

We know that through decisive organization of people the Nkrumahist CPP swept away both external and internal detractors to its struggle and dedicated itself to the formidable task of winning political independence for Ghana that was linked to the total liberation of Africa. Thus, when the world voted Kwame Nkrumah Africa’s Man of the Millennium, the CPP, by extension, rightfully assumed the status of Africa’s Political Party of the Millennium.

With the status of the CPP as Africa’s Political Party of the Millennium in mind, it must be incumbent upon all Nkrumahists to live up to the task of leading Ghana and Africa to the economic Promised Land, in spite of raging neo-colonialist mechanisms and the onslaught of globalization that seeks to weaken the poor of the world even more. African nationalists of Nkrumahist persuasion worked assiduously from the second half of the 20th century, even at the risk of their lives, to deliver political freedom to all Africans and all people of African descent.

It is the turn of the present generation of Nkrumahists to seek the materialization of the economic conditions that will fulfill the concrete aspirations of all African people. We are not speaking in the past tense; we are talking about realization of economic benefits from our resources now and into the future. What we have going for us are the advantages from modern information and communications technology that we need to use through existing social networking media to share critical knowledge and ideas.

Organizers, members and supporters of the COALITION take cognizance of the self-inflicted conflicts within the Nkrumahist family in Ghana emanating from contradictory political attitude by those elements that manage to hoodwink and bamboozle the populace, especially the youth, with unsustainable and unworkable messages. The notion of bi-partisanship is a two-way street as opposed to a situation where individuals in one party serve the whimsical interests of others in another while waiting for crumbs to trickle down to the rank and file.

In plain language, the greatest threat to the CPP in Ghana today exists in the party itself, from those who preach “all-inclusiveness government” while paying lip-service to Nkrumahism and those who call for “politics of no insults” while they describe their critics as “crab,” as well as those who go to bed with the “Busia-Danquah tradition” while seeking accommodation at the house Kwame Nkrumah built.

Mindful of the contradictions that have introduced internal conflicts into the organization of CPP-Ghana, organizers, members and supporters of the COALITION call on all those who wield the leadership mantle of the party to take responsibility for their individual political deficiencies, weaknesses and failures. By taking responsibility for their own actions, these leaders will learn a valuable lesson of not trying to blame or look for non-existing or perceived detractors.

We cannot emphasize enough that internal criticism is the lifeline for the survival of every political organization, the Nkrumahist CPP included.

Organize for CPP Coalition-USA! Organize for CPP-Ghana! Organize for Ghana! Organize for Africa!
