'CPP Has No Links With NDC'

Accra - The Convention People's Party (CPP) has not got any links with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), and it will not go into alliance with it.

Mr. Cletus N. Apanga-bia, the Upper East Regional Youth Organiser of the party, said this, when he interacted with youth members of the party at Zorko in the Bongo Constituency and Zaare in the Bolgatanga Constituency, last Monday.

Mr. Apanga-bia said, there are rumours in the region that the party is an organ of the NDC and called on the members and sympathisers of the party to disregard those rumours.

He said the youth, which is the bedrock of the country, has been neglected by the NDC and will be fully taken care of by the CPP when it is voted to power in this year's elections.

The meeting was to solicit their views on how the youth, who are the wheel of the party, in unity can function and also draw-up campaign strategies in the constituencies.

The regional youth organiser, advised the youth to form CPP fan clubs in all wards and also embark on a house-to-house campaign in their wards and polling stations.

He also advised them to explain the party's policies to the electorate and avoid the use of abusive language.

Mr. Apanga-bia said, the national executive is aware of the logistics problem in the region and will soon solve it.

He said the NDC has failed the people of Ghana with its empty promises and the time has come for Ghanaians to vote them out in this year's elections.

He said the former Upper East regional minister, Alhaji Sulemana even admitted that the NDC had not been able to provide Ghanaians with good leadership and development.

According to him, he read with dismay, the first time, a minister of the NDC accepting that the NDC government had failed the people of Ghana.

Mr. Apanga-bia said April 18, 2000 of the "Evening News" carried a story where the Minster was quoted at saying "We promised the people good leadership and development and this we have not yet achieved, though our programmes are still on course."

He said, the time has come for the CPP to take over the country and therefore appealed to the youth to work hard to ensure victory for the party in the coming elections.
