Bolgatanga, Nov. 23, GNA- The Convention People's Party (CPP) is nationalistic in character and would create a fertile and common ground in unifying all Ghanaians to pave way for accelerated development, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, one of the aspiring presidential candidates of the Party has stated.
He made this remark in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bolgatanga during his tour to solicit for votes from the delegates in the region.
The aspirant emphasized that the party needed a leadership that would be able to renew and reinvigorate it to be able to capture power in 2008.
Dr Nduom said he was invited to serve under the present New Patriotic Party Government and had done that to the best of his capacity and admiration of Ghanaians. He noted that with the experience acquired under the NPP Government, he would able to turn the fortunes of the CPP around to enable it win power in 2008.
Dr. Nduom said he initiated the creation of the Gold Coast Security Company and the First National Savings Loans Scheme. He said he would make education one of his top priorities especially within the Northern regions.
"I would also create more jobs for Ghanaians especially the youth", saying that, the highway armed robbery and the rampant killing of people in the country could be attributed to lack of employment. He called on party delegates to give him the nod to chair the affairs of the party to enable it to capture the 2008 general election. The aspirant appealed to his other colleagues to see themselves as one and rally behind anyone who would win the primaries, so that together they could wrest power in the 2008 elections. Dr. Nduom noted that the CPP since time immemorial had fought against social injustice, and made Ghanaians to have a better standard of living under Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He said the CPP had properly mobilized logistics and other resources to compete with the other parties and plans were underway to join hands with the People's National Convention (PNC) to win the forthcoming general election.
