A leading member of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP), Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa, has taken a swipe at critics who are downplaying the competence of the party’s choice of a running mate.

CPP flagbearer, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster Thursday unveiled Akosua Sarpong Kumankuma as his running mate for the December polls.

The former Dwantoahemaa of Dormaa Traditional Council in the Brong Ahafo Region is also the founder of Caring Kids International, a non-governmental organization.

The CPP is the second party to have a female running mate after the Progressive People’s Party named Ms Eva Lokko.

Some analysts say Akosua Sarpong Kumankuma will not make any meaningful impact on the CPP’s campaign because she is not well known on the political terrain.

But Professor Agyemang Badu Akosa told XYZ NEWS such comments put him in a state of awe.

“Who is well known in the political circle and do you have to be well-known in the political circle? I don’t understand. Let her talk and then people will immediately understand where she is coming from,” he said.

She said Madam Kumankuma has been at the forefront of fighting for the rights of Ghanaians and therefore has the capacity to help develop the nation for the good of the children and the youth.

He said the popular politicians within the NPP and the NDC have mismanaged the country for the past two decades and the time has come for a new face in Ghana’s politics.

“We need people with a breath of fresh air and infuse new ideas into the politics. Sadly as far as I’m concerned, NPP [and] NDC are the same,” Prof. Akosa lamented, adding “Their politics is selfish, individualistic politics. The come to acquire wealth for themselves and never mind the 90% of Ghanaians who are below my standard of existence.”
