Accra, July 19, GNA - The Convention People's Party (CPP) said nominations for contestants vying for national positions including the party's presidential slot opens on Monday July 21, 2003. A statement in Accra, signed by Nii Noi Dowuona, General Secretary of the party, said positions to be contested were the national chairman, three national vice chairmen, general-secretary, national treasure and the presidential candidate. The statement requested members of the party to obtain nomination forms from the national secretariat and return the completed forms by 1800 hours, Friday August 8. "Meanwhile, a number of sub-committees have been formed to carry out specific functions in preparation for the congress, which was scheduled to take place on the September 20, 2003," the statement added. The committees, it said, included those on media and publicity, legal, welfare and health. The statement said a rally committee would plan for rally scheduled for September 21, 2003, to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the birth of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the founder of CPP. The statement said the programme of activities for the constituency and regional conferences remains unchanged, adding that the Central Committee would soon meet to constitute the vetting committee to vet presidential aspirants.
