CPP sets out developmental agenda

Accra, March. 28, GNA- Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag bearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP) on Friday set out a 10-point developmental agenda that would be the driving force for his electioneering campaign to capture political power in the December general polls.

The agenda includes; establishment of a petrochemicals complex in the Western Region, building a world class Agricultural University in the Northern region, construction of a gold refinery at Tarkwa and a world class game park in Mole and a first class road at Damongo as well as an airstrip.

Dr Nduom announced the development agenda at the first Quarter CPP National Organizational and Campaign Strategic Review meeting in Accra, which focused on the his recent nationwide tour. The rest were; construction of an inter-regional highway from north to south and east to west; rehabilitation of railroad network from the south to the north; establishment of a world class bamboo factory in Assin Fosu; and increment in the per capita income to at least 2000 dollars.

He noted that the CPP campaign would maintain its focus on promoting ideas and offering solutions to national problem - "I will speak on the suffering and exploitation of people in the mining areas, the injustices in the allocation and distribution of pre-mix fuel in the fishing industry.

"To narrow the north-south developmental gap - infrastructure, social amenities and jobs; rehabilitation of the meat processing factory Zuarungu in the Upper East region", he said. The CPP flag bearer also reiterated his call for a national debate among the contesting presidential candidates to offer Ghanaians the opportunity to cross-examine them on their achievement and projections for the nation.

He said: "its good the NPP flag bearer is focusing on governance, macroeconomic stability, and African integration; NDC on truth, free and fair elections, record of achievement as the Vice President and I am for the environment, Ghanaian interest first, and provision of basic social infrastructure."

Mr Eric Kwamena Benyarko, National Campaign Chairman said the party would officially launch the CPP Elections 2008 campaign on April 27 to coincide with the death of the Dr Kwame Nkrumah founder of the party.
