Kumasi, June 13, GNA - Mr George Aggudey, Flag Bearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP), has said that the Party would implement the "Third Development Plan" initiated by Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Founder of the Nation, to improve the lives of Ghanaians when voted into power.
The CPP, he said, would also put a stop to the country's over-reliance on donor support and instead revive all abandoned State enterprises to create employment for the teeming unemployed youth. Mr Aggudey was speaking at a day's seminar for Regional Organisers of the Party in Kumasi on Saturday. It was held to adopt a campaign strategy to enable the Party to win Election 2004.
The seminar was also to find solutions to problems hindering the Party's progress in the regions.
The CPP Flag Bearer was emphatic that the country was not poor, but that bad leadership since the overthrow of Dr Nkrumah had created a situation where self-seeking politicians were mismanaging the country's resources.
"It is a big shame that a country endowed with rich agricultural land and hard working people cannot feed itself and has to depend on food hand-outs from countries that were no where near Ghana during the First Republic."
Mr Aggudey accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) of dividing the CPP so as to have an edge in Election 2004, but said, "we have seen through their divide and rule tactics and so all Nkrumaists should stand up and be resolute in finding ways of bringing the CPP back to power".
He called on Ghanaians to be mindful of the anti-human policies of the NPP, which he said, had moved the country deeper down the ladder of poverty and, therefore, asked Ghanaians to be bold and vote NPP out of power.
Dr Edmund Delle, Chairman of the Party, called on the regional organisers to arm themselves with real knowledge about Ghana's past history, especially the CPP days as well as the policies and programmes of successive governments.
Such knowledge, he said, was needed for the organisers to draw their action plans to sensitise the people to join forces with the Party to win the elections to save the nation from its present socio-economic problems.
Mr Kwaku Amoah-Awuah, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the CPP, announced that the Party would supply the Regional Organisers with the logistics to facilitate their operations.
