The Convention People’s Party (CPP) will not die, a communication member of the party, Yaw Nkunim has said.

Mr Nkunim’s comment follows recent brouhaha in the CPP following the suspension of the party’s General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah and Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah.

The duo, according to the party’s Communication Director, Rauf Kadir, were suspended for “proven misbehaviour”, which he said “have been contradictory” and inimical to the party’s interest.

Mr Yeboah insists he is remainsl the Youth Organiser of the party, a stalemate that has raised concerns as to whether Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s party is on the brink of collapse.

But speaking on the maiden edition of Inside politics, a political talk show on Class 91.3FM on Monday July 4, Mr Nkunim said the CPP was strong.

“CPP is strong, CPP is solid and what I can tell you is that what is happening is nothing near a party cracking up,” he told host Moro Awudu.

“CPP can’t crack up. If CPP would have died, our 32-year ban from 1966 to 1998 should have done it. But we were able to regain our legal status after 32 years of outlaw and so everybody should be rest assured that CPP is rather, by the day, regaining its strength”, Mr Nkunim added.
