Cadres pledge to enhance democracy in the NDC

The National Cadre Corps of 31st December Revolutionary Process have pledged to refuse any attempt to foster the parochial interest of some political activists in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on them.

"They would remain steadfastly rooted in their unflinching and unalloyed support for President John Evans Atta Mills and the NDC, and that any new political party intending to woo the cadre corps should look elsewhere."

Mr. Raphael Roger Beckley, Chairman of Forum of Cadres, made the pledge at a press conference in Accra to reaffirm their allegiance to the NDC.

He said the cadres had realised the actions of some prominent members of the party with an agenda to denigrate President Mills and oust him as the President of Ghana.

Mr. Beckley said some members of the party having failed to oust President Mills at the Sunyani Congress through hurriedly organised friendship groupings decided to hound President Mills daily to “give a dog a bad name and hang it”.

“They refused to deliberately recognise the good works which unfortunately has gained international commendation,” he added.

Mr. Beckley said these members had taken advantage of their constitutional rights of association to form a new political party aimed at dividing the ranks of the NDC and paved the way for another party to win Election 2012 thereby sending the NDC back into opposition.

He said cadres of the party would lend their qualitative and quantitative attributes to enhance the social democratic course being pursued by the NDC and exhorted all members to close their ranks and seek the greater good of the party.

Mr. Beckley urged members of the party throughout the country to mobilise votes for the NDC and appealed to the leadership not to relent in their efforts until victory was achieved on December 7.

Mr. Camillas Sakzeesi, a member of the Association, stressed that it was the cadres who prosecuted ideals of the revolution and moved the process forward leading to the formation of the party and represented the true aspirations of the cadre corps in the NDC.**
