Call On NDC To Establish A Consultative Action Committee

The branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the state of Virginia (USA) has called on the leadership of the party to establish a Consultative Action Committee (CAC), which the members believe will serve as a standing platform for the redressing of the grievances of aggrieved party members. The message further stated that this body when constituted will help promote the fostering of unity among membership, and will enhance the presenting of a formidable front for the party come the December 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana. This was contained in a statement read by Kwasi Baafi, former Offinso South Constituency chairman of the NDC on behalf of the president, Oheneba Damte, (former Deputy B/A Regional Organizer-NDC) at the second annual general meeting of the branch held over the weekend in Virginia.

Members also called on all NDC presidential aspirants to desist from making derogatory remarks of other candidates in their campaigns during their tour of the regions. The group reiterated that the campaign messages of the candidates should be bothered on issues rather than on personalities. The statement further stated that, that will appeal to those who will constitute the electorate college during the national congress of the party slatted for the latter of the year where one of the candidates will be elected to lead the party as the flag bearer for the 2008 elections.

The meeting witnessed the registration and admission of thirty new members. Important issues discussed at the meeting included how the branch can assist the party to emerge victorious in the 2008 elections. Members agreed to pay their monthly dues regularly and called on the party national party executives to map out a strategy that will help win more souls for the party through a vigorous membership drive.

The NDC branch also congratulated the newly elected NPP MP for Offinso South Dr. Owusu Achaw Duah. The statement further assured members that come 2008 the NDC will unseat the NPP nationally which will pave the way for the party to continue with its unfinished socio-economic development agenda drawn for Mother Ghana.
