The Director of Help Age Ghana (HAG), Mr. John Dwomoh Mensah, has stressed the need for Ghanaians to patronise the "Adopt-A-Granny Scheme" under which sponsors provide basic needs for the elderly. He was speaking at a get-together for the aged in Accra organised by the Association of Wives of Former Ghanaian Ambassadors. Underlining the activities of HAG, Mr. Mensah said it has a health programme by which the elderly and needy people are provided first aid in their houses. He said HAG also organises workshops and seminars in schools to shape the minds of the youth to cater for the old in society. The President of the Association of wives of former Ghanaian Ambassadors, Mrs. Matilda Asante, said the reception was to enable members of the Association to interact with the senior citizens and express their appreciation for the roles they have played in the country's development. She said it is the responsibility of the younger generation to help the aged so that its gesture can be reciprocated in future. gri
