Calm has returned to Asesewa in the Upper Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region following Monday morning’s protests by the youth.
Youth of the area had marched along streets of the constituency demanding an overturn of results of National Democratic Congress’ primaries, which gave incumbent Jeff Tetteh Kavianu a win.
According to the youth, votes at a particular polling station had been manipulated in favour of the Member of Parliament (MP).
But our reporter, Yvonne Neequaye, says calm returned to the constituency after losing aspirant, Bismark Tetteh Nyarko, asked the youth to return to their homes as he seeks redress through the party’s structures.
He, however, insisted that if nothing is done he will head to the law courts.
The district office of the Electoral Commission has been closed since morning, our reporter has indicated.
The youth had demanded a rerun of the polls in the constituency.
