The Canadaiaqn govt has pledged to help with the preparations for the 1996 by supplying materials to the tune of c125.

The materials, which consists of 412, 000 security seals and 56,000 secure boxes will be shipped to Ghana by CODE Incoporated of Ottawa, a Canadian Canadian firm with electoral experience. The registration is due in September.

The Canadian High Commissioner in Accra, Mr John R Schram and Dr Kwadwo Afari-Djan, chairman of EC, signed an agreement in Accra to that effect last Thursday. They also exchanged letters in line with the agreement.

Mr Schram said the gesture was to show how much Canada had supported Ghana for her good governance and democratic process, as well as the preparation being made towards the 1996 presidential and parliamentary elections.

He commended Ghana's steady gains promoting democratic development at home and with West Africa and said that was to the credit of the credit of the country and the sub-region in general.

The High Commissioner hoped that the security seals and secure boxes would help facilitate Ghana's electoral process.

Dr Afari-Djan, on behalf of the government, thanked the Canadian Government for the gesture, saying that the materials were very important and would contribute to the success of the registration exercise.
