Car dealer remanded in prison custody for fraud

Cape Coast June8, GNA - A 25-year-old car dealer from Accra was on Tuesday remanded in prison custody by a circuit court at Cape Coast for defrauding one, Mr Bernard Ntsin of four million cedis. Ishmael Darko, who pleaded not guilty would reappear on Wednesday June 16.

Prosecuting, Inspector Patrick Kuzorli, told the court, presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh, that Darko use to work with one Madam Rose Amponsah, another car dealer and that on March 3, 2004, Mr Ntsin bought an Isuzu mini bus from Madam Amponsah at 48 million cedis.

He said Mr Ntsin made a part payment of 40 million cedis and was to pay the balance within three months.

Inspector Kuzorli said somewhere in April this year, Darko approached Mr Ntsin and informed him that Madam Amponsah had asked him to collect the balance and was given four million cedis.

According to the prosecution, Mr Ntsin later contacted Madam Amponsah about the business transaction and she told him that she had sacked Darko and was no more doing any business with him.

He said after that, Darko resurfaced to collect the remaining four million cedis but Mr Ntsin informed the police and he was arrested. He said during interrogation Darko admitted collecting the money.
