Car thief remanded in custody.

Tema, July 22, GNA - A driver's mate who attempted to steal a taxi on the Sakumono road, has been remanded by the Tema Circuit Court 'B'. Danda Hayford pleaded not guilty and will reappear on July 28, 2004. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Ben Agbedanu told the court that on June 2, this year, Mr George Darko was driving from Community One towards Sakumono and picked the accused, who said he had some items to pick along the beach road.

At a spot, he asked the driver to stop so that he would put the items in the boot of the taxi. As soon as the driver got down to assist him, he pushed him aside and jumped in behind the wheels and drove the car away.

But with the help of another taxi driver, Danda was arrested.
