Accra (Greater Accra) 14 Jan '99 Richard Mc Addey, a cargo officer, at Kotoka International Airport, has appeared before Accra circuit tribunal charged with stealing personal effects and other items worth 8.4 million cedis. He pleaded not guilty and was granted 8.4 million-cedi bail to reappear on January 20. Police Inspector Albert Akpey told the tribunal that Mrs Christiana Ghartey, a business woman in London, who was returning home, sent her personal belongings, including nine mobile phones, a standing fan, four batteries and mobile phone holders, all valued at 8.4 million cedis through the accused. The prosecution said Madam Ghartey instructed her son, Master Ebenezer Morchie, to contact the accused who is in-charge of the cargo section at the airport and take delivery of the items on her behalf. Madam Ghartey arrived in Ghana on September nine, last year and found that most of the items had been stolen and made a report to the police who retrieved five of the nine mobile phones from the house of the accused.
