Bompata (Ash), Feb. 7, GNA- The Juaso police has launched an intensive investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding a purported suicide committed by a 22-year-old carpenter at Bompata near Asankare in the Asante Akim South District. Kwasi Tawiah was on Tuesday found sitting on his bed with a net sponge around his neck and loosely tied to a window frame. The Police, who suspect foul play has therefore, begun preliminary investigations into the case to unearth the actual cause of death. Detective Dominic Kwame Osei, Juaso District Crime Officer, who briefed the Ghana News Agency, said the deceased was a native of Bompata but lived and worked at Assin Fosu in the Central Region. He said on February 1, the deceased came to Adansi near Asankare where his mother and wife stayed to set a date for the outdooring of their one-month-old baby.

He then went to Bompata the next day and was seen among the youth of the town celebrating the Black Star's victory over Nigeria on Sunday. However, when he went to bed that night he was not seen again until two days later when residents saw flies hovering around his window with a bad odour coming from the room and they informed the assemblyman who reported to the police.

When the door was forced opened he was found sitting on his bed with a sponge around his neck loosely tied to a window frame. The body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
