Accra, May 13, GNA - The Chief of Staff, Mr John Henry Martey Newman is heading a Commission of Enquiry into the dismissal of the National Co-ordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Alhaji Suleman Abdul Rahaman.

The commission, which started work on Monday, May 10 invited Alhaji Rahaman to testify and would reappear on Friday May 14.

A source at the Osu Castle told the Ghana News Agency that it was the Office of the President that appointed the co-ordinator on November 4, 2009 and so the appointing authority should have had a hand in his dismissal.

He produced the letter signed by the Chief of Staff appointing Alhaji Rahaman and the Deputy National Co- ordinator Mr Yaw Gyarko.

A letter terminating the appointment of the co-ordinator dated April 19 2010 was signed by the Minister of

Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh. The letter, which gave Alhaji Rahaman 24 hours to hand over, attributed his dismissal to non-performance. "The termination is because of non-performance on your part, which has put the programme at risk of losing

major partners involved in the programme and with it the much needed funds for the running of the programme. "By this letter, you are to handover all the property and accounts of the programme to your deputy," the letter

said. The Ministry had since appointed one Mr Adamu Seidu as the new co-ordinator. When the GNA contacted Alhaji Rahaman he said he would not comment on the issue although he confirmed he

was in contact with the castle over the issue. 13 May 10
