Nkwaeso, (B/A), March 1, GNA - A One-hundred-million-cedi catering centre for youth training has been launched at Nkwaeso in the Techiman Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region. Nana Foase Gyan, Chief of Nkwaeso, who launched the four-year project at a ceremony to welcome the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeayo Akumfi-Ameyaw at Nkwaeso said he had already released a five-acre land for the project to take off.
Nana Gyan said the project would be financed through special levies of 50,000 cedis and 20,000 cedis from resident citizens, men and women while non-resident citizens would pay a flat rate of 100,000 cedis and to be supported by fund raising harvests. He said with the high communal spirit that they had shown, the project would be completed on schedule, which would afford the children in the area who could not pursue higher education to get the chance to undergo catering training. He appealed to the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development as well as the Municipal Assembly to support them to improve upon the quality of life of the people.
The Omanhene Oseadeayo Akumfi Ameyaw commended the people for their initiative and hard work and asked them to co-exist peacefully, since the future development of the community would only succeed under a peaceful political climate. Oseadeayo Akumfi Ameyaw advised parents to invest in the education of their children, especially their daughters to ensure that they emulate their predecessors such as Professor Mensah Abrampah, a Lecturer in the United States of America and Professor Christopher Akumfi Ameyaw, Minister for Ports, Harbour and Railways, who tirelessly worked for the promotion of education and discipline among children in the area.
