The failure of the Students Representative Council of the Catholic University College at Fiapre in the Brong Ahafo Region to settle its indebtedness to Rashkon Company Limited has led to the Sunyani CommercialCourt ordering their accounts with GCB Bank, Sunyani Main Branch to be garnished in order to offset the debt.

According to the facts of the case, the private company supplied a total of 300 customized pieces of tablets to the institution worth over GH¢200, 000 in July 2016 through its Students Representative Council (SRC).

Part payments of the stated amount was made but authorities have since refused to make further payments for about close to two years now leading to the supplying company heading to court and securing a judgement in its favour.

This follows the failure by both parties to reach an amicable out of court settlement under the supervision of Justice Ananda J Aikins (Mrs) on July 25, 2018, where the plaintiff agreed to accept GH¢151.250.00 as full settlement of its claim against the 2nd defendant and whereas the plaintiff also waived interest on the above amount.

Meanwhile, upon securing a court order to garnishee the account of the SRC, checks by Rashkon Company Limited revealed that only GH¢9,500 was retrieved from the stated account giving room for suspicion of the true state of the account and inquire further whether transfers of students dues of the Catholic University were transferred into the said account by the University or not.

The shrouded mystery still lingers on as the student leadership is said to be at war with authorities of the school to release SRC dues for them in order to offset the debt before they are cited for contempt.
