Some members of parliament from the minority side have questioned president Akufo-Addo's failure to speak on the depreciation of the cedi during the state of the Nation Address.

According to them, the cedi depreciation is one of the key challenges affecting the country’s economy which needs to be tackled.

Speaking in an interview Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said he was surprised the president failed to touch on the cedi depreciation.

He questioned that the president failure to speak on the issue, asking if the president is “being insensitive to Ghanaians or have to solution to the crisis”.

“…For the president to deliberately ignore this matter, what does it mean? Is that the president is been insensitive to Ghanaians or is it that the president has no solution to the crisis that the currency is in at this point.”

Also the Deputy Minority Leader, James Klutse Avedzi said the president avoided speaking on the cedi depreciation because he (Akufo-Addo) knows the cedi was falling at a faster rate.

He added that the announcement of Ghana existing IMF was not good news since that should have happened last year.

For Mr. Avedzi, this year SONA was full of grammar than achievements.

Rahid Pelpuo added that the Akufo-Addo government should record failure for the depreciation of the cedi.
