The Central Region secretariat of the Civil Servants' Association (CSA), has embarked on an image building campaign to redeem the negative perception the public have on Civil Servants.

The Executive Council of the Association has, therefore, directed all district branches to seek either financial or logistic support from their District Assemblies to educate members on the code of conduct and regulations of the Association.

This is to help check the negative public image that the civil servant is inefficient, unreliable and corrupt, the CSA said.

Mr. William Affram, Regional Secretary of the CSA in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday, enumerated a number of factors that had contributed to the negative public image on the Service.

He appealed to members to take the educational campaign seriously and to change their attitude for the better since the executives are doing all within its power to provide better conditions of service for them.

Mr. Affram stressed that without the cooperation of the public the campaign will not be effective.

He said to boost the morale of its members the Association has put in place a welfare package which include engaging certain financial institutions to assist members pay their wards school fees, buying items on hired purchase and instituting an extra income scheme for its retired staff.

Mr. Affram said it is expected that the packages would help lessen the financial burden on members and give them the peace of mind to work effectively and efficiently.
