President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been honoured with the most prestigious award at the Central Region maiden investments Conference and awards night held on Monday at Elmina.
President Akuffo-Addo's award was in recognition of his exemplary, visionary and inspirational leadership in Ghana and his monumental footprint of development in the Region.
It was also for his personal commitment and unflinching dedication to prioritising development, fighting corruption and strengthening democracy, respecting the rule of law, as a means of fostering development in the Region.
The awards ceremony was put together by Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM), a development arm of the region, in collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council, Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI) and the Regional House of Chiefs.
Other high profile personalities who were also honoured were Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Entrepreneur, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), John Alan Kojo Kyeremanten, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Kwamena Duncan, the Regional Minister and Dr. Kojo Essiam Mensah Abrampah, CEDECOM Board Chairman.
Other awardees were Apostle Dr. Kojo Sarfo Kantanka, Entrepreneur, Dr Bentil Enchil, Entrepreneur, Mr. Richard Quansah, Agriculturist, Ms. Fatima Reusing, Mr. William Oppong Bio, and Mrs. Judith Wilson, all Entrepreneurs.
Industry awards went to the Ekumfi Pineapple processing factory, Twifo oil palm plantation (TOPP), Ameen Sangari Industries, Centre of awareness, Solid Home Appliances, Kakum National Park, Elmina Beach Resort and Han Cottage Hotel.
The Paramount Chiefs were, Nana Kojo Conduah VI and Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI respectively of Elmina and Owirenkyiman Traditional Areas, as well as Nana Amoakwa Badu VII, the Omanhene of Breman Asikuma, who received awards for their resilience in investment promotion and Nana Kowkotu, Chief Fisherman of Manford for investments in fishing .
The National Investments Bank was also recognized for excellence in banking.
In all, 30 successful entrepreneurs and business moguls from various backgrounds were honoured, to serve as a motivation to all businesses and enterprises to work extra hard and contribute to the development of the Region.
Mr. Spencer Taylor, acting Executive Director of CEDECOM, said the awards were to honour ingenuity in entrepreneurship through innovation and creativity.
He commended his staff for their dedication to work and urged businesses and entrepreneurs not to give up regardless of teething challenges but be consistent until they achieved their vision.
In attendance were Mr. Thomas Agyei Baffoe, Deputy Regional Minister, captains of industry, financial institutions, students and other high profile personalities in the Region.
