Central Region sets up 249 centres for limited registration exercise

Cape Coast, July 30, GNA - A total of 249 registration centres have been set up throughout the Central Region to cater for the limited registration exercise which takes off nationwide on Thursday. The Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Samuel Tettey, told the GNA that there would be one registration centre for every two electoral areas for those who have attained the age of 18 and those above 18 but have not yet registered.

Cape Coast, July 30, GNA - A total of 249 registration centres have been set up throughout the Central Region to cater for the limited registration exercise which takes off nationwide on Thursday. The Regional Electoral Officer, Mr Samuel Tettey, told the GNA that there would be one registration centre for every two electoral areas for those who have attained the age of 18 and those above 18 but have not yet registered. He said the registration officials would move from community to community to ensure that all eligible voters are registered. Mr Tettey said all materials and equipment for the exercise such as registration forms, indelible ink, cameras and printers have been received by his office and have been distributed to all offices of the Electoral Commission in the region. He said EC is doing its best to step up publicity to create awareness and that apart from the FM stations and the commission's publicity vans, chiefs, assembly members and other relevant groups are assisting in educating the public. 30 July 08
