Manso (B/A), Jan. 24, GNA - Nana Menka Ameyaw, chief of Manso in Nkoranza District of Brong Ahafo, has commended the Centre for Savannah Art and Civilization, an NGO, for establishing the Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr Village in the town in memory of the African-American civil rights icon.

He said at a press conference at Manso at the weekend that the decision to site the village in the area was in the right direction as Bono-Manso was one of the slave markets in the country.

Tourists, particularly Africans in the Diaspora, now heavily patronise the Martin Luther King Village.

Nana Menka commended the leadership of the Centre for Savannah Art and Civilization as well as the local people for offering communal labour to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Nana Asante Nyarko, Kaneasehene of the town announced that an Association, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr. Youth Group, had been formed in the area to appreciate the good works of the late American hero.

Nana Nyarko commended the Nkoranza District Assembly for its support and assistance towards the development of the Village. Meanwhile, the Centre for Savannah Art and Civilization plans to establish a vocational school at Manso to enable the youth in the area to acquire employable skills.
