The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, last week Wednesday expressed strong dislike about certain events and elements in the ruling governing party, which he said was working against his throne and person.
The Asantehene was categorical about the involvement of the Manhyia palace in the setting up of the NPP and therefore, would not countenance any move to discredit or undermine his traditional authority and Asanteman.
First of all, on behalf of the party in the region, I apologize to the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, and wish to assure him of our continuous loyalty to him, the golden Stool and Asanteman.
It was through the sweats and toils of the Kingdom that brought the NPP where it is now, and the NPP is clearly aware of that.
It is an undeniable truth that the NPP has been a direct beneficiary of the benevolent gestures of this great Kingdom, where the Asantehene through his chief linguist, Baafour Akoto, donated a cash of £700,000 for the setting up of the party.
Our tradition imbibe in us the spirit of gratitude. And clearly, it it important to state that the naming of the first ever permanent regional party office after Baafour Akoto, Otumfour's Chief Linguist, which is currently under construction, further testifies the deep respect and appreciation that the party has for the kingdom.
It would however, be an act of betrayal and ingratitude for to turn around mock, chide, stab or undermine the same hands that give us strength and feed us politically.
We recognize that the NPP is weak without Asanteman and I promise on behalf of the party, to do what it takes to restore trust, hope and confidence going forward to building a more solid party that will forever serve the Golden Stool and Asanteman.
Again, let me state categorically that the NPP and it's functionaries; knowing the weights of the Kingdom, and the political benefits it gets, will not do anything that will pitch any tribe against Asanteman.
However, anyone found to be doing a contrary agenda, to spite the Kingdom will not be spared at all. We serve Asanteman and that has always been our focus.
The party is also cautioning political party, individuals and groups who are bent on pitching one tribe against Asanteman for their political experience, to bow down their heads in shame. Rather, they should focus their devilish agenda to building their disjointed front.
The NPP will continue to work in lifting Asanteman and helping the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo fix the broken country left behind by the Mahama-led incompetent NDC government.
May the King reign be blessed and flourish. May Asanteman glow in glory. And may the NPP benefit from the glows and glory of Asanteman.
Thank You. CHAIRMAN Bernard Antwi Bosiako Wontumi
