Chairman of Interplast Limited adjudged ‘Overall Best Business Icon of the Year’

Chairman of Interplast Limited, Saied Assad Fakhry has been declared the Overall Best Business Icon of the Year at the 2nd edition of the Ghana Business Quality Awards.

Mr. Assad Fakhry’s award is in recognition for his business achievement and exceptional contribution to the manufacturing industry in the country.

Mr. Fakhry in 1971, established Interplast Limited, a company devoted to produce extruded plastic pipes of high quality. Over thirty years, he continued large investments in machinery and equipment, training and education of staff and the continuous output of quality products and services that made the company the biggest producer of plastic pipes in West Africa.

Further to the ongoing development of Interplast, he together with partners founded a real estate development company; Dream Reality in 2011 which has the largest single surface area building in West Africa measuring 120,000m2 in the heart of Accra and a 19 hectares granite stone quarry located on the road from Accra to Nsawam.

In 2013, Mr. Fakhry together with his son invested in the development of a brand new state of the art factory that produces innovative insecticide products (Inesfly) that will make a large contribution to the African Continent in their continuous battle against malaria and other borne diseases.

The Ghana Business Awards is an annual event that rewards excellence among the most committed and dedicated entrepreneurs and corporate executives in Ghana.

The Award focuses on recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs and corporate executives who have positively impacted the economic growth of Ghana.



Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong won the Best Ashanti Region Business Icon of the Year Award and Groupe Nduom, the Premium Quality Group of Companies of the Year.

The award for the Best Quality Indigenous Bank went to Fidelity Bank, while Barclays Bank was named the Best Financial Service Provider of 2018.

The Intercity STC Coaches Limited took the award for Premium Transport Company while the Health Insurance Service Company of the Year went to Nationwide Medical Insurance.
