Challenge Afoko's 'extremely damaging claims' - Pratt to NPP

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has called on members and leaders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), not to entertain statements by its suspended chairman, Paul Afoko.

To the Senior Journalist, Mr Afoko comments could ruin the NPP’s dream of coming back to power this year if the leadership of the party reacts not appropriately.

“He (Paul Afoko) has never said anything good about the party especially its flag bearer, which would shatter the dreams of the party if not well addressed”.

Speaking to Radio Gold, he strongly urged the leadership of the NPP not to disregard recent remarks by the embattled chairman, whose comments, he asserted, are not those of a grassroots activist since he once held the high office of the party.

"NPP cannot win the elections with this great attack against the party always from Paul Afoko, because he eventually comes in to curb off points won by party officials ahead of the coming polls," he added.

He reiterated that Paul Afoko must be warned and stopped from talking on behalf of the party, adding until this is done, the NPP would continue to suffer attacks that could prevent it from moving forward.

"....This is because one cannot move forward when there are unsolved challenges behind him/her.

I think that it is important for leaders of the NPP to come out and state their side of the case, with utterances made by Paul Afoko. If the details of his interviews against the party remain unchallenged they can be extremely damaging to the NPP, to its presidential candidate and several other leading players in the party. Therefore the party policy of keeping silent, not debating, not challenging claims by Mr. Paul Afoko may not in the final analysis be in the party’s interest”.
